关于Aeroplan和新加航积分计划的最新进展,Aeroplan改名和新版的TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite即将推出

自从加航宣布2020年6月开始中止与Aeroplan合作之后,大家尤其是手头还有大量Aeroplan积分的朋友,都非常关心Aeroplan的计划将会变成怎样。

2020年8月4日更新,有一些新的消息。
2020年3月3日更新,2020年起更改一些官方条款。

消息17

根据网友的消息,Aeroplan miles将来改名了Aeroplan points。新的TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite将会有新的卡面设计并于11月8日推出,旧客户将在推出后的一年内陆续收到新卡,而且年费会从现在的120升到$139,新增福利包括$100 Nexus fee;原来有的免费Maple Leaf Lounge将会取消,如果用这次卡来买机票又或者用AP来兑换机票的话,可以有免费托运行李。

TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege将会改版,年费提高至$599,包括免费Maple Leaf Lounge。

由于疫情的关系,新加航计划准备推迟到2020年第4季度推出。另外之前暂停的双停留也会有机会回归,新加航里程计划将会变成混合式的,北美短途将会与现金机票挂钩。国际长途将会维持现有的兑换表格。

2. Aeroplan Membership is limited to natural persons, and no corporation, trust, partnership or other entity may hold membership in the Aeroplan Program except as may be authorized by Aeroplan at its sole discretion.

22. Subject to earlier termination or amendment of the Aeroplan Program, you can accumulate Aeroplan Miles until December 31, 2019, and request reward travel until March 31, 2020. Reward travel must be completed by December 14, 2020.

25. Each member is responsible for ensuring that all contact information given to Aeroplan is current. Aeroplan, its partners, suppliers and affiliates, shall not be liable for misdirected or delayed communications such as mail or email, or any consequences thereof.

Aeroplan Memberships and accounts are administered online only. Each member is required to have a valid email address. Using a valid email address, a member is responsible for creating online credentials in order to access an account, review account details including transactions, messages from Aeroplan, account updates and to complete transactions.

15. Aeroplan’s principal form of communication with a member will be by email. By participating in the Aeroplan Program, members agree that all Aeroplan Program, Aeroplan Membership and account communications will be provided to a member electronically only. From time to time, members may receive personalized offers or exclusive offers extended to certain segments of our membership or selected members.

25. Each member is also responsible for updating their Aeroplan Membership information, including any change to their legal name, email address, telephone number, residential address, province, territory or jurisdiction of residence. Updates to a member’s Aeroplan information can be made online by accessing their account or by calling the Aeroplan Contact Centre. Aeroplan may request that a member confirms or updates their personal information or validate their accuracy at any time, and a member is responsible for responding. Aeroplan is not responsible if it cannot contact a member because such member has not given Aeroplan current or accurate information or responded to a validation request. Aeroplan may always rely on the accuracy of the Aeroplan Membership information provided in a member’s account until otherwise advised by a member through an account membership information update.

As we plan for the launch of a more rewarding Aeroplan in 2020, we’re reimagining how we can best recognize our most loyal Aeroplan members. In preparation for this, over the course of next year, we’ll be winding down the Aeroplan status program. Here’s what this means for you:

There’s still time to qualify for 2020 Aeroplan status
Members can qualify for Aeroplan status in 2020 based on the eligible miles they earn through December 31, 2019. Beginning in January 2020, you will no longer be able to qualify for Aeroplan status.

Continue to enjoy Aeroplan status benefits in 2020
Members who earn 2020 Aeroplan status will continue to have access to many of the benefits they enjoy today. Please note that the following benefits will no longer be offered when we relaunch Aeroplan later in 2020:

  • Market Fare Flight Reward discounts, available to all Aeroplan status members.

  • Preferential Rates on Flight Reward Fees, available to Aeroplan diamond status members.

Millions of Aeroplan members earn miles every day through our extensive partner network, whether when using an Aeroplan affiliated financial card, booking hotel stays and car rentals, or shopping with our retail partners. While we are saying goodbye to the Aeroplan status program, with our new loyalty program, we’re making it a priority to recognize our most engaged members – and not just our most frequent flyers. Beginning next year when we announce the details of the refreshed Aeroplan Program, we’ll be sharing more with you about how we’ll reward our most loyal members.

In the meantime, Aeroplan diamond, black and silver status members can continue to enjoy their Aeroplan status benefits, and all Aeroplan members can continue to earn miles with confidence.

知名英文博客TPG最近发送了一个关于Aeroplan的消息,全文如下。Mark Nasr是加航Loyalty and E-commerce的老大,也就是管将来新加航里程计划的人。他在9月5日的World Aviation Festival in London发表讲话,解释新加航里程计划的去向。

关键有几点,新加航里程计划将会变成混合式的,北美短途将会与现金机票挂钩。国际长途将会维持现有的兑换表格。

其它的改善订票网页等的都是套路了。

看来对于加航来说,用Aeroplan兑换北美短途才是影响加航利润最大块的地方 ,所以将来要改成跟现金机票挂钩,确保不会对加航利润做成过大的影响。而国际长途,估计是可以继续收取燃油附加费的关系,而且也要跟星空联盟的其它舱司成员竞争,还是暂时保留兑换表格。

Aeroplan members rejoice! The program’s award chart is apparently not going to disappear when it transitions back under Air Canada’s control next year, except for a couple markets where the charts are gone. This approach to redemption options is something that Vice President, Loyalty and E-commerce Mark Nasr hopes will bring transparency to the program structure and keep all parties happy.

Speaking at the World Aviation Festival in London on Sept. 5, Nasr suggested that the program will operate under a hybrid redemption model. Aeroplan will publish an award chart for intercontinental routes and partner flights. While he stopped short of confirming it will be the same chart as today, it is clear that Aeroplan’s aspirational awards will remain within reach and that travelers will know what their points targets are for redeeming those luxury trips.

For short-haul flights within North America, most awards will be tied to the cash price of the ticket, similar to the revenue-based redemption models popular with other airlines like Southwest and JetBlue. These are — by far — the most commonly redeemed flights in the program, and the revenue-based sliding scale for pricing allows Air Canada to ensure last-seat availability. Nasr also made it clear that there would be caps on the award costs in many cases. The number of seats redeemed at those extremes is low, and Nasr believes the company can “give back a little bit” making sure there’s an incremental value to the program at those extremes.

Better booking options
Just fixing the award prices “only addresses half the problem,” according to Nasr. Delivering a quality booking engine that surfaces the available inventory and gives passengers their desired options is also key. Air Canada has plans for an updated app version in the coming months that will lay the framework for a much-improved, tightly-integrated booking flow going forward. Passengers won’t see the full benefits for award bookings until the program transition, slated for late Q3/early Q4 2020, but the work is well underway.

The future of upgrades
The company has also made decisions regarding the future of upgrades for its top-tier elites: The current eUpgrades credits will remain in place. Nasr explained that the company considered a shift to “unlimited” upgrades similar to the Delta SkyMiles or United MileagePlus programs. It decided to hold the status quo after reviewing customer feedback and the company’s internal data. With upgrade clearance rates significantly exceeding the competition, even on highly-competitive routes such as Vancouver (YVR) to Toronto (YYZ), Nasr sees no value in rocking that boat.

Earning advantages
Partnerships are also expected to improve dramatically as Air Canada builds stronger relationships, including opportunities to tie elite status tiers across partners, similar to the United/Marriott RewardsPlus arrangement. Nasr also expects to deliver improved earning and burning opportunities for elite members with some partners as those relationships are renegotiated.

消息4:Aimia正在跟寰宇一家oneworld商讨合作

根据加拿大环球邮报的报道,Aimia正在跟寰宇一家oneworld商讨合作。

Aeroplan’s parent company, Aimia Inc., is in partnership talks with the Oneworld airline alliance as it fends off a hostile takeover bid from Air Canada and three financial partners.

The talks, which Aimia confirmed on Wednesday, extend the company’s efforts to reposition Aeroplan once its contract with Air Canada expires in 2020.

Under new leadership, the loyalty program has recently promised not to change the cost of booking flights for members once the Air Canada contract ends. It has also publicly stated members will be able to book seats on any airline come 2020.

Behind the scenes, Aimia has also been negotiating a new partnership with the Oneworld alliance, whose member airlines include British Airways, American Airlines and Cathay Pacific. Oneworld is a direct competitor to Star Alliance, of which Air Canada is a member.

虽然很难想像一间没有航空公司在背后支持的Aimia可以跟寰宇一家拿到什么像样合作,但这的确是一步好棋。由于担心Aimia真的可以寰宇一家合作,加航极有可能提高回购价钱。

另一方面,对于消费者来说,当然是希望Aimia可以跟寰宇一家合作,这样的话,等于在加拿大多了一个积分计划(Aeroplan和加航新积分计划)。

最近CBC有一篇关于加航的报道,其中提到了新加航计划。资料来源。意思是说,加航仍然准备推出自己的积分计划 。如果Aimia接受Air Canada+TD+CIBC+Visa Canada建议用22.5亿向Aimia Inc.购买Aeroplan的话,那么现有的Aeroplan积分会转入新的加航积分。

In the shorter term, they said, Air Canada is awaiting Aimia Inc.’s response to a bid by the airline and its credit card partners to acquire the Aeroplan loyalty points business. The consortium said the offer will expire on Thursday.

He said Air Canada hasn’t deviated from its plan to set up its own in-house loyalty program, but sees this week’s acquisition proposal as a way to retain a partnership with Toronto-Dominion Bank and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, which currently offer Aeroplan Visa credit cards.

“We have not abandoned our plans to launch our own loyalty plan in 2020. If Aeroplan is acquired, Aeroplan miles would simply be converted to our new program . . . (allowing for) a smooth transition for Aeroplan members.”

But Rovinescu said Aimia’s board has the option of rejecting the proposal and adopting a go-it-alone strategy for Aeroplan, without Air Canada as a redemption partner.

“Of course, we see value in continuing with our two incumbent credit card partners that are in that [Aeroplan] program, TD and CIBC, if that’s feasible. . . . But if it’s not, then it’ll have to be with other bank partners.”

现在看来,加航回购Aeroplan的目的,是为了保住现在的5百万积分用户。虽然整个回购金额高达22.5亿,但实际上只有2.5亿是由现金支付,而另外的20亿则由加航和星空联盟的积分兑换机票支付。只要加航将来把Aeroplan转入新加航积分时,把转分比例设定低一点,比如说2 Aeroplan:1 新加航积分,这样加航就稳赚了。

另一方面,TD和CIBC还有合同在身,需要继续包销Aeroplan几年。如果加航回购Aeroplan成功,既可以让这两家银行明正言顺地继续跟加航合作,需要包销Aeroplan(需要付给Aimia)部分的价值也会大大减低。

最近Aeroplan宣布更多消息,声称Aeroplan将会跟近20家航空公司和酒店合作,使用Aeroplan可以兑换任何航班和任何座位。另外兑换机票所需要的积分跟之前的相同。

– North American short-haul: 15,000 miles
– North American long-haul: 25,000 miles
– Mexico and Caribbean: 40,000 miles
– Europe: 60,000 miles
– Asia: 75,000 miles

结语2

对于这个消息和兑换表,我反正觉得极不靠谱。首先现在还跟加航有合作关系,以这个兑换表的积分来兑换机票,就已经限制多多。如果用Flex Points也就是市场价的方式兑换的话,所需要的积分都是高出天际的。

将来跟加航没有了合作关系,那么包括加航和其它航空公司都没有义务提供低廉的机票,也就是说Aeroplan必须以市场价向航空公司购买机票。除非Aeroplan有能力跟航空公司包销一部分机票,即使是这样,对于一些热门的航线来说折扣也不会太好,因为航空公司根本就不愁卖。


Aeroplan最近发布最新计划,基本上的意思就是将来Aeroplan会跟各大航空公司,租车公司合作,由Aeroplan出面用现金支付,而会员则用Aeroplan支付。详情可参考:Aeroplan网页

这样的新计划就跟大家自己花钱去买机票租车一个意思,这样的话与其是通过Aeroplan,还不如自己出一张Cash Back的信用卡,然后自己看到那家便宜就花钱买那一家更好。

在2020年之后,用Aeroplan就不可以再兑换出Star Alliance的机票了,积分也基本上废了。大家如果手头上还有Aeroplan积分的话,赶紧在2020年前烧掉吧。用Aeroplan订加拿大国内的机票,以及飞亚洲的机票都是非常合适的。
